The 5th annual Coast2Coast Las Vegas Showcase was widely expected to be amongst the very best pro showcases in the country - Coast2Coast “Las Vegas 2024” did not disappoint!
Dozens of agents, scouts and coaches attended the event as Coast2Coast delivered on its most central value - quality exposure. Our players are seen by industry professionals who can make a difference.
120 hungry prospects gathered at Canyon Springs High School for three days of learning, development and intense competition. Divided into 12 teams each coached by active pro coaches and/or industry insiders. After Day One team practices, each team played an exhibition game to get a chance to compete prior to the start of pool play. Night one was physical, competitive and many players proved their quality from the first tip-off.
Day Two was devoted to informing the players about Coast2Coast’s Entry Level Program, and most importantly a chance for each team to play two pool games in an all-out effort to advance to the semi-finals on Day Three. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers would be paired into consolation games on the final day of action. (All teams were guaranteed four games.)
Team Celtics coached by NBA G-League coach, Brett Burchard passed the look test right away with the strong perimeter play of Robert Waters, Asante Gist, Tylan Green and Sidney Dollar. Waters in particular asserted himself knocking down numerous clutch shots down the stretch of both games. MVP Chase Jeter used his 6’10” frame and length to control the paint and offered an inside scoring punch to compliment the Celtics strong guard play. Team Netherlands coached by Dimitris Sarikis dispatched their pool opponents behind the excellent play of Dionte Raines and the big-time efforts of Jaylan Williams, Tomislav Miholjcic, and Timon Jones. Team Raleigh knocked off Team Oakland in overtime to win their pool. Coached by Matt Jones, Team Raleigh had a handful of multi-talented players who could all impact the game. Isaiah Eiisendorf, Josef Buford, Kevin Brown, AJ Farrar, and DJ Weaver all made important plays. The fourth pool champion was Team Greece coached by Christos Chasanidis won their pool in stellar fashion behind the dynamic play of PG Duane Goodman, the inside power of Victor Tshiona and Tyquane Goard. Jalen Hawkins knocked down a flurry of threes.
Day Two was hyper physical and played above the rim. Virtually every player went all-out competing for their team while demonstrating their quality. There was a palpable buzz in the gym as the spectators and professional evaluators took in the baseline to baseline intensity.
The final day proved to be exciting and once again the Coast2Coast championship game went down to the final possessions with Team Celtics prevailing over Team Greece in OT. In the first semi-final Team Greece came back from a 15 point deficit to defeat Team Netherlands. Meanwhile Team Celtics beat Team Raleigh to set up the championship final.
Clearly, a huge number of players at the Showcase are capable of playing professionally at some level. Already players who entered the event without representation are signing with agents. Conversations with pro coaches scouting the event identified for us players they are targeting for their rosters, and the Coast 2 Coast staff will be promoting prospects post camp for jobs. Stay tuned as we highlight some øf the success stories as we go forward…
